3 STAR DIVER TRAINING
A CMAS 3 Star Diver is a highly experienced diver qualified to lead divers of all levels underwater. They are responsible for ensuring that all dives are conducted in accordance with safe diving practices and established standards. A 3 Star Diver has received training in underwater rescue and first aid and is capable of applying these skills when necessary.

When acting in a supervisory role, they are authorized to warn divers who fail to comply with safety regulations and, if required, prevent them from participating in a dive. They bear primary responsibility for the safety of the divers under their leadership. CMAS 3 Star Divers may conduct and lead dives to a maximum depth of 30 meters. Under the direct supervision of a diving instructor and for training purposes, they may participate in dives up to 42 meters.

Prerequisites for CMAS 3 Star Diver Training

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold a CMAS 2 Star Diver certification or an equivalent certification recognized by the federation.
  • Have completed a minimum of 50 logged and approved dives after obtaining the CMAS 2 Star Diver certification (or equivalent), documented in a dive logbook.
  • Hold at least a primary school or elementary school diploma.
  • Possess federation-recognized specialty certifications in First Aid, Underwater Navigation, and Deep Diving.
  • Complete a medical self-declaration form (a medical examination by a diving physician is strongly recommended).
  • Provide a copy of a valid identification document.
  • Submit two passport-sized photographs.

Theoretical Training Modules

3T1 – Small Boat Operations
Understanding basic boat handling, safety procedures, and operational responsibilities during diving activities.

3T2 – Navigation
Advanced underwater navigation techniques using natural references, compass navigation, and dive planning methods.

3T3 – Underwater Search and Rescue
Search patterns, rescue procedures, emergency management, and diver recovery techniques.

3T4 – Compressor Operation
Fundamentals of compressor systems, air quality standards, maintenance procedures, and operational safety.

3T5 – Problem Management
Identifying, preventing, and resolving diving-related problems before and during a dive.

3T6 – Group Dive Organization
Planning and managing group dives, risk assessment, diver supervision, and leadership responsibilities.

3T7 – Physics and Physiology Review
Comprehensive review of diving physics and physiology, including pressure-related effects and diving safety considerations.

3T8 – Diving Equipment Review
Detailed review of scuba equipment, maintenance requirements, troubleshooting, and equipment selection.

This advanced-level program is designed to develop leadership, safety awareness, rescue capabilities, and organizational skills, preparing divers for greater responsibility within the diving community.
